Camila Torres
Bogotá, Colombia
“Pose tells one story; posture tells another.”
Biography
Camila Torres paints figures caught between rehearsal and rest. Her subjects are invented from remembered postures, sketches on public transit, and the choreography of shared domestic space.
Artist statement
I paint the body when it is not performing for anyone. A shoulder, a turned chair, or an unfinished gesture can carry an entire narrative.
In the studio
Torres begins with diluted umber drawings and leaves portions of those first decisions visible. Saturated oil passages arrive late and are concentrated around hands, textiles, and faces. Digital compositions isolate color, pattern, and posture before those relationships return to the canvas.
