Daria Volkov
Berlin, Germany
“Every archive has a weather system.”
Biography
Daria Volkov makes layered images from fabric offcuts, carbon paper, photocopied handwriting, and translucent paint. Her compositions move between private record and public notice.
Artist statement
I am interested in documents that cannot prove anything. Their stains, corrections, and missing sections become a different kind of testimony.
In the studio
Volkov sews paper to linen, transfers marks with carbon, and seals selected areas in wax. The works remain deliberately thin and are mounted without heavy backing. Ink studies remain part of her archive practice, holding erasure and incomplete evidence in a single sheet.
