Biography
Diego Falcón has maintained a print workshop in Puebla for more than thirty years, moving between woodcut, monotype, and spare painted studies. His recent images turn water, ravines, and shadow into muscular carved currents.
Artist statement
Falcón lets the block establish resistance and the monotype introduce weather. Registration stays slightly open so pressure, grain, and the sequence of printing remain visible.
In the studio
Falcón cuts broad matrices by hand, proofs repeatedly, and prints on heavy cotton paper with an old geared press. Gray monotype veils are added from separate plates after the darker carved structure is established.
