Luca Ferretti
Turin, Italy
“Transparency is not the same as disclosure.”
Biography
Luca Ferretti creates kiln-formed glass works that appear geological despite their precise construction. Layers of transparent and opaque color are cut, fused, and ground back to reveal internal seams.
Artist statement
Glass carries light into its body. I build structures for that light, then let flaws and bubbles keep the object from becoming too perfect.
In the studio
Ferretti assembles colored sheet glass with mineral inclusions, fires slowly, and cold-works each edge. Pieces are designed to change against different backgrounds. Small painted panels serve as opaque color studies for later kiln-formed glass structures.
