Biography
Renata Cuevas is a young ceramic artist known for assembling groups of vessels whose openings tilt, fold, and answer one another. She uses a disciplined palette to focus attention on silhouette, interior shadow, and subtle glaze contrast.
Artist statement
Cuevas treats a group of vessels as a conversation in posture. Differences in height and opening establish rhythm before color enters the work.
In the studio
Cuevas builds with coils and soft slabs, compressing the clay from both sides to keep walls light. Matte slips are layered before firing, while cobalt glaze is brushed only into seams, rims, and selected interiors.
