Yara Salameh

Amman, Jordan

A group can hold individuality without becoming a crowd.

Biography

Yara Salameh works with ceramic modules that can stand alone or gather into changing constellations. Her forms borrow from seeds, architectural vents, and objects whose use has been forgotten.

Artist statement

I make families of forms rather than single monuments. Difference becomes visible through proximity.

In the studio

Salameh press-molds coarse clay, alters every piece by hand, and applies dry slips in smoke, sand, and cobalt tones. Installations are mapped but never fixed to one arrangement. Her material families now include tufted fiber modules alongside ceramic forms.
