Biography
Aisha Khan is a Pakistani Canadian artist whose suspended textiles transform dyed cloth into changing spatial screens. Her installations draw from weather systems and domestic thresholds without reproducing specific patterns or inherited motifs.
Artist statement
Khan uses translucency to make color conditional. A textile changes with the wall, the viewer, and the light passing through it, so no single surface owns the final image.
In the studio
Khan dyes cotton and silk in repeated low-concentration baths, then cuts and joins panels around minimal steel supports. Installation tests focus on airflow, overlap, sight lines, and shadows at different times of day.
