About the work
Held Current centers raised gray, cream, and indigo braids gathering and releasing across an open grid. Maren Brooks develops the work through braiding, open weaving, hand dyeing, and relief mounting, keeping its material construction and visual rhythm clearly legible.
The work extends Maren Brooks's practice through a specific balance of water, slate color, and sculptural structure.
